Following an open search process, I am delighted to inform you that Clare Kennedy has accepted my offer to become the next Lead Volunteer/District Commissioner for Preston & District Scouts.Clare will be known to many of you as the current Deputy District Commissioner; a role she has held for the past five years.
Additionally, Clare has extensive experience across the sections, as a Group Scout Leader, with Jamborees and in adult training. Alongside Clare’s professional experience, the District is in safe hands.
In the coming weeks, Clare will be focussing on a two key areas:
- Meeting with all Group Scout Leaders to identify opportunities and areas for development and support.
- Building a new team, in-line with the new structure.
Clare will succeed Warren Frost as District Commissioner on the 1st December.
Warren has given outstanding service as District Commissioner for Preston, showing immense dedication and enormous passion over the last five years. Warren has led the District with enthusiasm, hard-work and care. This has including supporting the District through the pandemic and through a period of recovery. I am hugely grateful for Warren’s leadership of Preston and want to place on record, on behalf of the County, my enormous thanks for all that he has done. Thank you Warren! I hope we will have the opportunity to thank him properly and invest Clare at the District leaders meeting on the 11th December.
Finally, I want to thank the search group, led by Ed Bettess, for their diligence and professionalism throughout this process. Preston & District has great foundations, and an abundance of talented volunteers. An exciting period lies ahead, and I know with your support, the District will continue to thrive under Clare’s leadership.
