Scout Districts exist to provide direction, guidance, line management and support to Scout Groups. Support can be in lots of different forms whether it’s just being a friendly team to talk to when things aren’t working or even when they are; to organising large scale events or taking on some of the administrative burden that inevitably comes with running a charity.
We’re really proud of what we are able to offer in Preston and we are continuously striving to do more to support the leaders delivering fantastic programmes and life changing opportunities to young people in our community.
Integrity – We act with integrity; we are honest, trustworthy and loyal.
Respect – We have self-respect and respect for others.
Care – We support others and take care of the world in which we live.
Belief – We explore our faiths, beliefs and attitudes.
Co-operation – We make a positive difference; we co-operate with others and make friends.
As a volunteer in Scouting you take an oath to uphold the values and act accordingly in everything you do.
Meet the team
They range from on the ground hands on volunteers to those who work behind the scenes. From tapping away at spreadsheets to keeping this website running!
Training & Learning
We provide our volunteers with the tools and tips to help you feel trained, supported and happy in your role. Find out about the training required for your role, building on your existing skills and knowledge.
Nights Away
Nights away or residential events, whether camping, hostelling, sleepovers or bivouacs, form an integral part of scouting, and are something that every young person should have the opportunity to take part in.
Recruitment & Media
Scouting is about adventure for everyone. This runs through all of our media work and is our ‘brand. Underpinning the idea of adventure is that Scouting is about fun, friendship, trust, being confident and inclusive.
Administration
Record and account keeping are an important part of Scouting, and help ensure the safe and effective running of any section, Group, District or County. Being organised in your record keeping will help save time.
Safety & Safeguarding
Staying safe and looking after each other is at the heart of Scouting. As adults in Scouts, the safety of young people is our priority. Wherever we go and whatever we do, we put young people’s safety and wellbeing first.
Programme Guidance
There are a number of resources available, and sources of support, to help you plan and deliver your programme. Including the Activity Permit Scheme, General Activity Guidance and the DofE programme.
Awards & Recognition
Recognising achievements and thanking volunteers for their contribution to Scouts. We want to thank all our volunteers for their contribution to Scouts, we know how important it is to recognise their brilliant achievements.
International Scouting
Scouting is a international. A visit abroad is a fantastic opportunity to learn about another culture, meet other Scouts, experience unique adventures and extend the horizons of our members beyond the town.
