DESCRIPTION:We’re heading back to the Cairngorms in February 2023 for Snow and Ice. This is a Winter Mountaineering Experience for Explorers\, Network and Leaders. \nFrom 10-15 Feb 2023 you’ll have the opportunity to take part in Winter Mountaineering whether that be expeditions\, Winter Climbing\, Winter Hill Ascents\, Snowholes\, Skiing and much more. \nCost is £325 which includes all your accommodation\, transport to and from Scotland and on the event\, fully catered\, equipment and instruction from qualified winter instructors. No winter experience is needed and we can lend winter kit for no extra fee. \nYou do need to be 15 years old upwards and have had some experience of walking – whilst you don’t need winter experience\, this isn’t a trip for complete novices who haven’t been walking in the mountains before.  You need to have the stamina to walk into the hills each day.  Some experience of walking in the Lakes/North Wales is useful. If ensure – get in touch – snowandice@westlancsscouts.org.uk \nInterested? SUMMARY:West Lancs Service Crew Challenge
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce the details for Crew Challenge 2022”\n \nThis year’s event is going to be held on Saturday 12th November 2022. \nThe Waddecar Service Crew Challenge has been hosted by the Waddecar Service Crew for over 30 years. The main idea of the competition is teams of 3 or more (from both Scouting or Guiding) navigate around bases on Beacon Fell Country Park over a 3 hour period (10am-1pm). Each base earns the team points which are totalled up to reveal the winners later in the afternoon. The bases are traditionally Scouting skill orientated however in more recent years we have moved with the times and a few more modern practical skills have been thrown in. Base examples include Knots\, First Aid\, Car Maintenance\, Knife and Axe and DIY. Teams are entered into 3 age ranges based around the Scout\, Explorer and Network age ranges and lately we have even let Leader teams enter. \nThe competition is always held in November on the Saturday before Remembrance Sunday so as you can imagine the weather adds to the challenge. The event is very popular every year and teams from outside of the County regularly book on to compete. On the day we have over 300 people on the fell doing their utmost to get that winning edge on their rivals.\n \nThe cost to enter is £6 per team.” \nYou can book your place here!

The Event will consist of a 1 hour forum followed by 2 hours of Curling on the Ice for the Scouts. \nThere is a limit of 32 places on the event\, because of the size of the ice. DESCRIPTION:The MAC is Back!\n16th – 18th September 2022 \nThe Mountain Adventure Challenge (MAC) is back for 2022. The walking and camping event is open to primarily for Explorer Scouts and Network members as well as Adult Leaders (for training opportunities). \nThere are 3 levels for the event and they are:\n \n• Green\nTailor made to suit the needs of the participant as agreed with the organisers.\nRoute and Campsite will be based on the Blue and Yellow options. This could include\nindividuals or twos or threes who are prepared to walk with others. The walk could be\ntaken as an independent team or with a leader. Further options could include Day 1 or Day\n2 only with or without an overnight camp. For the full weekend the cost will be same as\noptions below\, but would be reduced if not camping. \n•Blue\nA two day two night expedition\, navigating through stunning parts of the Lake\nDistrict. Walking with a day rucksack and your camping equipment transported to the\novernight campsite. Teams of 4 to 7. This option does not meet the requirement of the\nPlatinum Expedition but could be used as Training. Cost £20\, plus your own food and\ntransport to and from the event. \n•Yellow\nA two day two night expedition\, navigating through stunning parts of the Lake\nDistrict. Walking carrying your own kit. Teams of 4 to 7. This option meets the requirement\nof the Platinum Expedition . This can be undertaken as a challenge or as part of the\ncompetition.
